Bio

Emil Gerth has been a student of mysticism and the occult for most of his life. When he was twelve, he became interested in Zen Buddhism after watching a NOVA episode on mind-body medicine. That led to learning sitting meditation, and further studying followed. From Eastern philosophy to Western ceremonial magic, Emil's experience and knowledge are broad and deep, allowing him a unique perspective on the spiritual journey.

Emil was initiated into adulthood in the spring of 2004 by Alex Stark at a healing ritual held at the University of Minnesota. Over the winter of 2004-2005, Emil successfully underwent a self initiation process into the runic mysteries. This shamanic initiation has been acknowledged by his teacher and community.

Beyond his spiritual studies, Emil received a BA from the University of Minnesota, majoring in Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature and minoring in American Indian Studies. Currently, he holds a position in the IT department of a Fortune 500 organization.

Emil's most recent training is the Last Mask Center's Cycle of Transformation. He is proud to have completed the final workshop in the Cycle in the late spring of 2008 and will soon begin his apprenticeship to Christina Pratt.
